2026 NFA Update Updated August 2026

Federal NFA rules are changing.

Effective January 1, 2026, the federal making and transfer tax rate for most National Firearms Act firearms, including silencers, was reduced to $0.

In August 2026, a federal court also blocked enforcement of several NFA registration, application, and approval requirements against the plaintiffs in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF and, where applicable, their members and customers. The court's injunction is not a universal nationwide exemption for every person or transaction.

Solvent Trap Tube Guide

Which Tube
Should I Choose?

One of the most common questions we get is which solvent trap tube makes the most sense for a particular firearm cleaning setup. Start with how and what you normally clean, then consider the size, weight, capacity, and material you prefer.

01 / COMPACT

Handguns &
Compact Firearms

For routine handgun and compact-firearm maintenance, many customers prefer a smaller, lighter cleaning setup that is easy to handle and doesn't require unnecessary collection capacity.

02 / GENERAL PURPOSE

Rifles &
Long Guns

Rifle and long-gun cleaning often benefits from a larger-capacity solvent collection system, particularly when more cleaning fluid is being used during routine maintenance.

03 / CAPACITY

Frequent &
High-Volume Cleaning

If you regularly maintain several firearms at once, a larger-capacity tube can reduce how often the collection system needs to be emptied and cleaned between jobs.

Tube Material Guide

Aluminum or Titanium?

After choosing the tube size and configuration that fits your cleaning routine, material is the next decision. Aluminum keeps things lightweight and economical, while titanium provides premium strength and corrosion resistance.
